Kitchens & Interiors
Our renovation of the service wing of the historic Harry Fenn house (1884-85, M. Edwards-Ficken, original architect) solved the planning dysfunctions that had been set in place after the house was moved and renovated over the course of the 20th century. We created generous new windows, patterned on those of the original service spaces, for morning light at breakfast time and views of the back yard from the kitchen. Material choices and detailing are informed by those of the original architect and his artist patron, though of course their servant's wing was not developed in such a luxurious manner. The custom kitchen we developed incorporates cabinetry in butternut, soapstone countertops, pendant lighting, and handmade Portugese tile. Wright & Robinson collaborated with our clients to chose and deploy the colors, create new windows in new openings, and detail the custom kitchen to use full tiles above the stone rag-stop. Ours is a design-oriented practice.
