Kitchens & Interiors
Renovation of the service wing of the historic Harry Fenn house (1884-85, M. Edwards-Ficken, original architect) solved the planning dysfunctions that had been set in place after the house was moved and renovated over the course of the 20th century. We created generous new windows, patterned on those of the original service spaces, for morning light at breakfast time and views of the back yard from the kitchen. The new stair gives direct access to the two levels of garage and basement. Providing headroom to the basement steps was a secondary functional justification for the creating the confortable, pew-like butternut window seat.
