AFTER
Madison Place Residence, Ridgewood NJ Historic District
2013

2,000 sf addition to, and full renovation of, a substantial Queen Anne vernacular house in an historic district. Unusually for this period, the original stair was both cramped and rose in darkness in the center of the house. It had lost all of its original railings and balusters. We created a 3' x 12' central light well above the stair, with a 3' x 12' custom skylight on the roof above. We opened up the foot of the stair and created entirely new railings and panelling in a style appropriate to the house, reusing only the newel post which we discovered had survived boxed in.
