Kitchens & Interiors
This mid-century Colonial style house backs up to a park, and for years the now-mature tree canopy has limited sunshine and prevented anyone in the kitchen from seeing sky. The small lot prevented construction of a substantial rear addition, but allowed for a 36" deep addition the full width of the kitchen. This is enough to transform the kitchen plan with an island. A tall dormer pierces the low ceiling and permits a double-sized window through which one can always see blue sky. The cabinetry is relatively inexpensive but handsome. Added trim elements make it look custom.
